Abstract

Objective: To investigate polymorphisms of six Y-STRS by using DNA samples collected from 140 male individuals of Han from Shaanxi Province. Methods: DYS393, DYS19, DYS389 ∥, DYS390, DYS391 and DYS385 were co-amplified by using Y-PLEX™ 6 kit and were detected by ABI 3100Avant Genetic Analyzer. Results: We observed 4, 6, 7, 8, 4 and 37 alleles at these 6 loci respectively. The genetic diversity ranged from 0.3594 to 0.9565. We also observed 135 different haplotypes in the 140 individuals, among whom 131 were unique. Haplotype diversity and discrimination power were 0.9923 and 0.9643, respectively. Conclusion: The six Y chromosomal STR loci are highly polymorphic and can be applied in forensic cases and population genetics.
