Abstract

Based on the characteristics of partial discharge signals occurring in XLPE power cable and the theory of electromagnetic coupling effect, we developed a wideband sensor for detecting partial discharge signals occurring in XLPE power cable. The experimental result indicated that the sensor was fit to apply in wideband frequency with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). It was the foundation for partial discharge online monitor of XLPE power cable.
