Abstract
A series of new cuprous oxythiomolybdate catalysts were prepared by hydrothermal method based on Ammonium Tetrathiomolybdate reacting with cuprous chloride, and were characterized by XRD, UV-Vis spectra and XRF. The catalysts exhibit strong absorption in all wave range. These catalysts can produce hydrogen under visible light irradiation in an aqueous Na2S-Na2SO3 media. Meanwhile, the influence of the reaction temperature and time on the activities of the catalysts was investigated. The results indicate that the catalyst activity under hydrothermal condition for about 24 hours at 140°C is the highest, and the hydrogen production rate is around 10.7 μmol/(h · g).
