Abstract

Very low pressure plasma spraying (VLPPS) technology was utilized to deposit electrolyte on porous metal supported solid oxide fuel cells (MS-SOFCs). The cross section of plasma sprayed electrolyte was characterized by SEM. The impedance spectra of sprayed single cell was measured by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at different operating temperatures. The gas permeability was analyzed, and the long-term stability of the cell was also investigated. The results show that the OCV of the cell stabilized between 1.05 V and 1.1 V at the temperature range of 550∼750°C. The maximum power density of the cell could be up to 1164 mW/cm2 at 750°C. The plasma sprayed MS-SOFCs shows good stability.
