Abstract

With the application of synthetic esters that offer fire safety and good biodegradability, the trend of retrofilling mineral oil transformers with synthetic esters has become a common practice for refurbishing old transformers. Because residual mineral oil is present inside the transformer during the retrofilling process with synthetic esters, electrical property tests on mixed insulating liquids with different mass ratios of mineral oil ranging from 0 % to 10 % were conducted in this study, and the results were compared with the IEC 60199 limits. The conclusion shows that residual mineral oil affects the electrical properties of the mixed insulating liquid, and that the electrical properties of the mixed insulating liquids meet the requirements of IEC 60199.
