Abstract

Liquid metal LiPb loop is considered as the unique testing facility to research the technology of liquid metal blanket for fusion reactor. In order to get the proper method of temperature measurement and controlling for high temperature LiPb in loops, 316L pipe is chosen to be heated up, and a temperature controlling system is designed so as to test the K-type thermal couples with different working styles. It is found that the temperatures of naked-type of thermal couples are much closer to the set-up temperature than those of shell-type or insulation-type ones at the same cross-section of the pipe, and the fluctuation of those temperature curves are very small. So, naked-type thermal couples are chosen to be used in DRAGON-I loop, the first thermal convection liquid metal LiPb loop in China. And the temperature measurement and controlling system satisfy well the need of temperature measurement for LiPb loop.
