Abstract
As one of the core components in HVDC converter valves, the reliability of the converter valve is directly depended on electric property of damping resistor. Firstly, the electrical stress endured by damping resistor during the operation of converter valve and resulting power loss are analyzed; then, based on the idea of equivalent simulation a method to test steady-state power and transient pulse power of damping resistor is researched. Combining with the testing method and based on the technology of repetitive charging, the topology of testing circuit is put forward and the working modes of the testing circuit are expounded, and the waveforms of circuit simulation are analyzed. Finally, the reasonableness of the proposed test method is verified by the developed prototype.
