Abstract

Combined with the Greenwood-Williamson theory, a new fractal contact model of engineering rough surface was established. Based on Archard theory, a fractal model dealing with the adhesive wear and surface elastic and plastic deformation was set up by taking account of the shear stress affecting actual contact surfaces. The relation between wear and fractal dimension was described. The results are helpful to the determination of optimal surface dimension and the reduction of wear with lower cost.
