Abstract

Using x(PbO) = 55% as a flux and using BaTiO3 as nucleation, single crystals PZNT91/9 have been successfully grown by high temperature flux method combined with bottom-cooled technique. The maximum size of single crystal is up to 15 mm × 13 mm. Pure perovskite structure and the presence of cubic (100) faces for crystals were investigated by the XRD analysis. The pyroelectric current was measured and the results showed that the rhombohedra to tetragonal phase transits at 69°C, but the tetragonal to cubic phase transits at 174°C. The piezoelectric properties of single crystals as below: piezoelectric coupling coefficient kp(kt) are 0.69 (0.49); piezoelectric constant d33 is 1330 pC/N and the strain at 13.6 kV/cm up to 0.312%.
