Abstract
A lot of knowledge and experience is usually required to transform product CAD model to various application models in computer-aided near-net-shape forming. Moreover, this transformation is time-consuming and error-prone. Realizing automatic transformation can not only increase design efficiency, improve design quality, but also keep the consistency of design results. Therefore, it possesses significant engineering application background. In this paper, the relationships between product model and various application models are discussed in detail. It is pointed out that application model could be produced by adding or deleting some features. In terms of this observation, the system framework for realizing CAD model automatic transformation is proposed based on KBE and feature recognition technologies.
