Study of the stability of a high voltage gas switch

Abstract

By use of a 2MV pulse generator, the influence of the material and shape of the switch electrodes on its stability for a 2MV SF pulse gas switch has been studied. According to the breakdown mark on the smooth spherical electrode, the switch could work more stably by making a slot on spherical nose of electrode. Therefore, the partial enhancement of electric field between the electrodes is of benefit to the breakdown stability of the pulse gas switch.
