Abstract
In the paper, the formation mechanism for pure phase BiFeO3 (BFO) in an EDTA-assisted hydrothermal process with the presence of NaNO 2 was investigated in detail. The analysis revealed that the hydrothermal decomposition of Fe-EDTA complexes with the presence of NaNO 2 intensely influenced both the crystal structure and morphology of BFO powders. Moreover, pure BFO particles exhibited efficient photocatalytic activity under visible-light irradiation, suggesting their promising applications as photocatalysts.
