Abstract
A new structure of integrated optical flying head (OFH), with both perfect mechanical and optical performance, is designed, which can achieve stable flying height and high signal/noise ratio optical signal during the read/write motion in near field recording (NFR) system. Air bearing surface (ABS) design and optimization are discussed by means of numerical simulation of pressure distribution and flying attitude, i.e., flying height, pitch and roll, the primary parameters of ABS for OFH slider are simultaneously presented. The simulation result demonstrates that the flying height of the integrated OFH slider remains stable within 43 nm and 44 nm at various radium of optical disk to meet the requirements of NFR system.
