Abstract

In the high power industry area, the application scope of one single Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) module has been greatly restricted due to its low capacity. A solution to this question is the parallel operation of multiple modules. In this paper, we proposed a proportional current limiting control strategy of modular three-level STATCOM parallel system. By the stability analysis, we obtained the sufficient condition for the stable operation of the parallel system. Finally, the control strategy and the stable operating condition were verified on the prototype.
