Abstract
Some dielectric properties of ZnO nonohmic elements of different technical processes are studied. The frequency dependences of the capacitance and the dissipation factor tan sigma of the elements suggest that dielectric losses of the elements in the audio frequency range are caused by electronic hopping. The resistive current of all the elements is proportional to the product of its own capacitance and 1 mA voltage. The relation can be used to evaluate the heat dissipation of the elements and as a diagnostic tool for their quality control.
