Abstract

The solubility measurements were performed for HFCs R143a (Trifluoroethane), R116 (Hexafluoroethane) and R23(Trifluoromethane) in 1-Hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluormethylsulfonyl)imide [HMIM][TF2N] and 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [BMIM][BF4] ionic liquids at temperature ranging from 303.15 to 333.15 K for R143a and 283.15 to 288.15 K for R116 and R23. The pressure ranges from 0.2 to 1 MPa for R143a and 0.2 to 2 MPa for R116 and R23. The solubilities of R143a, R116 and R23 in [HMIM][TF2N] and [BMIM][BF4] were correlated well with the NRTL equation. The comparative study of solubilities of refrigerant gases in [HMIM][TF2N] and [BMIM][BF4] shows R143a is more soluble in [BMIM][BF4] than other HFCs.
