Abstract

Smart energy management is the path to achieve the management and operational objectives of smart energy systems (SESs). First, some related concepts of smart energy management are introduced. The evolution of energy systems in four stages and the three dimensions of smart energy management are also proposed. Then the overall structure and key technologies of SESs are provided, followed by the introduction of the composition of energy big data and its application in demand side management (DSM). Furthermore, the Ubiquitous Energy Internet in China, the smart energy management in smart buildings, smart manufacturing, and smart transportation are discussed as case studies of smart energy management. Finally, the research paradigms of smart energy management are presented and future directions are pointed out.
