Abstract

Mo2Ni3Si/NiSi metal silicide composite coating was fabricated on the substrate of austenitic stainless steel by laser cladding using Ni-Mo-Si elemental powder blends. Microstructure of the coating was characterized by OM, SEM, EDS and XRD. The wear properties at room temperature and high temperature were evaluated under sliding wear conditions. Results show that the coating consists of the Mo2Ni3Si ternary metal silicide primary dendrite and interdendritic Mo2Ni3Si/NiSi eutectic structure. The coating has excellent wear resistance at room temperature and high temperature under sliding wear conditions. The wear mass loss of the coating increases very slowly with the increase of wear test load under room-temperature sliding wear test conditions, and decreases slowly with the increasing of wear test temperature under high-temperature sliding wear conditions.
