Abstract

Based on the Brinkman equation and the chemical reaction equation, a 3D fluid-reaction coupling numerical model is built to study the effects of material properties of different components of the lateral flow assays (LFAs) on the flow. The velocity and concentration fields of LFAs are analyzed after adding PDMS hydrophobic barrier in the NC membrane. The modified lateral flow assays can obtain improved performance. The results can provide theoretical guidance for the design of the lateral flow assays.
