Abstract

The softening temperature of waste plastics is about 80 -250 °C , and it is possible to block up the gun during injecting waste plastics into blast furnace. In order to protect the gun against blocking up during injecting waste plastics into blast furnace, the thermal simulation experiment was conducted under the conditions of different kinds of waste plastics, different grain size, different diameters of gun and different ratios of waste plastics to their carrying gas at 1 250 °C simulating blast temperature for blast furnace. Mechanism of blocking up the gun was analyzed, and the result showed that the factor affecting blocking up the gun is very complex, and kinds of plastics and their granule, temperature, diameter of the gun, etc. are all in relationship with blocking up the gun. However, reasonable granular component and corresponding diameter of the gun, suitable diameter of the gun, and reasonable technological system of the injection, etc. are all important means of protecting the gun against blocking up.
