Abstract
In this paper, A experiment is discussed, in which a Q-switched double frequency Nd: YAG laser is used for sounding the depth of water. The laser has emitted at 532nm and 1064nm with a pulse length of approximately 5 ns. IR beam at 1064nm is high attenuation in the water, which prevents the beam from penetrating more than a few centimeters. The IR beam is used to measure the slant range to the water surface. The green beam at 532nm isused for detecting the target under water. The theoretical model, the experiment set-up and results are described in detail.
