Abstract

Coupling from tapered fibers into the whispering gallery modes (WGM) of the optofluidic ring resonator is investigated analytically. Phase-mismatch due to the differences in propagation constants between the taper and the optofluidic ring resonator modes is taken into account. By adjusting the taper diameter to match the propagation constant of resonant mode of interest, the mode with the best sensing capability can be efficient excited on purposes.
