Saddle-shaped Pattern Design for Linear Array by means of FIR Filter

Abstract

This paper discusses a method to synthesize saddle-shaped pattern for linear array with equal interval and the same progressive phase excitation through the design of finite impulse response (FIR) filter. By utilizing the similarity between the radiation pattern of linear array and frequency response function of FIR filter, we can make it easy to design the radiation characteristics of array desired. Simulation results demonstrate the correctness of our proposed algorithm.
