Abstract

The magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of polycrystalline alloys Tbi-xGdxFe2 (0≤x≤1) have been investigated. The curie temperature of Tb1-xGdxFe2 increases while room temperature saturation magnitization Ms decreases monotonously with increasing Gd concentration. Furthermore the magnetostriction coefficient λ111 decrease as Gd content increases for Tb1-xGdxFe2 compounds. The decreasing of anisotropy results in small increase in the magnetostriction at low magnetic fields for Tb0.2Gd0.8Fe2.
