Restoring Phase Linearity of Uniform Linear Array With Certain Decoupling Techniques

Abstract

This paper studies the influence of mutual coupling effect on the phase relationship between elements of uniform linear array when incident by incoming waves at certain angles. For an ideal array, the phases of the received signals obeys a certain linear relationship when the wave is incident at a certain angle. By comparing the phase relationships of the signal received by each element before and after decoupling, we come to the conclusion that the phase linearity can be improved by proper decoupling.
