Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To review the research progress of renal cell carcinoma(RCC)biomarkers based on proteomic technologies. METHODS: The fulltext database retrieval system of PubMed and HighWire press were searched, with "RCC and Biomarkers, Proteomics and RCC" as key words, retrievaling the literature on proteomic technologies and RCC biomarkers from 2003 to 2011. Inclusion criteria: 1) Proteomic technology; 2)Identification and screening of RCC biomarkers using proteomic technology; 3) The research progress of RCC biomarkers. Finally 38 papers were selected according to the included criterica. RESULTS: The rapid development of proteomic technologies have been providing the newly technology platform for the study of RCC biomarkers. Using proteomic technologies several potential biomarkers signifinantly relevanted to oncogenesis and tumor progression of RCC had been found, incluing Vimentin, CAIX, AnnexinII, SAA, and so on, which show promise in early diagnosis, therapy and prognosis of RCC. CONCLUSION: Proteomic technologies have a signifinantly advantage in identification of RCC biomarkers, and the progress of RCC biomarkers promotes the development of early diagnosis, therapeutic and prognosis of RCC.
