Abstract

The nature of carrier traps in polyester (PET) and polyethylene (PE) has been widely investigated by respectively using thermally stimulated current (TSC) and photo-stimulated discharge (PSD). Under non-isothermal technology, the trap depths of Polyester sample for the TSC peaks were about 0.50eV, for the PSD peaks were various from 3.8eV to 4.8eV. The trap depths of polyethylene sample for the TSC peaks were about 0.85eV, for the PSD peaks were more than 3.9eV. Experimental results showed the trap depth that was estimated from the TSC process and that was calculated through the process of PSD derived from the same trap distribution.
