Abstract

The N doped TiO2 single crystals were prepared by one-pot hydrothermal method using titanium nitride as precursor, hydrofluoric acid and hydrochloric acid as the controlled reagent of dominated facets and crystal. Then these as-prepared samples were characterized by SEM, XRD and TEM. The results showed that TiN preferred to form nitrogen doped anatase TiO2 single crystals with advantage {001} facets and sheet appearance under the control of the fluoride ions alone, and it preferentially formed nitrogen doped rutile TiO2 single crystals with advantage {110} facets and rod appearance in the presence of F- alone. If F- and Cl- were used as controlled reagent together, TiN were transformed preferentially into nitrogen doped anatase TiO2 single crystals with Advantage {001} facets and sheet appearance, along with two new small crystal facets formed at every corner of (001) facet.
