Abstract

Having combined the mechanism of formation of severe slugging flow, the principle of alterative pressures located both in bottom of the riser and pipeline was studied, and a transition model between transitional flow and severe slugging flow, and that between transitional flow and stable flow. Both Lockhart-Martinelli method and Beggs-Brill method were compared on the prediction of void fraction in gas-liquid two-phase flow, and flow transition models were compared with experimental dates. It proved to be that Beggs-Brill method has more accuracy on prediction of void fraction in gas-liquid two-phase flow while both transition models make well accordance with experimental results, which would give supports of optimal design of marine pipeline-riser system.
