Abstract

Based on the philosophy of mobile agent technologies, this paper is mainly concerned with developing a novel platform for the configuration and encapsulation of legacy manufacturing resources in the networked-manufacturing systems. The implementing methodologies and programming models are based on Java solutions and Aglets. With Java solutions, the basic framework of this platform can be realized. Through the dispatch/retract mechanisms of aglets, the configuration and encapsulation functions and information integration and share for legacy manufacturing resources can be accomplished well. Finally, a prototype is presented to demonstrate this idea.
