Abstract

In order to explore the insulating properties of the new environmental friendly gas C5F10O and its mixtures, the manifestation in the breakdown performance of C5F10O/CO2 mixtures under different pressures and different types of electric fields were studied. The non-uniformity of the electric field is adjusted by rod-plate electrodes of different sizes, additionally, the total pressure of the mixed gas is changed by aerating CO2 gas while fixing the C5F10O partial pressure. It was found that with the decrease of the rod electrode diameter, the non-uniformity of the electric field increased, and the breakdown voltage of the mixed gas decreased significantly. While with the increase of the total gas pressure, although the volume fraction of C5F10O decreased, the breakdown voltage still showed an upward trend. To a certain extent, the gas pressure of C5F10O/CO2 mixed gas can be increased, and the insulation performance similar to that of SF6 can be exhibited.
