Abstract
After describing the background of global manufacturing, the definition of e-manufacturing is given. And then a reference architecture is put forward, including the e-formalization of manufacturing facilities and the construction of e-manufacturing system based on Web services. The implementing method and the correspondent enabling techniques, such as e-manufacturing chain and its dynamic scheduling, collaborative mechanism, visualization, data exchanges, etc., are explored. Finally, a software prototype is developed as a verification of the above ideas so that the manufacturing transparency and the accurate digital production can be achieved through the e-manufacturing technology.
