Abstract
A novel on-line ferrograph for monitoring wear particles in opaque lube is developed. The basic principle of on-line ferrograph and its key parts, namely hybrid magnet, and wear particle detector is introduced, and experiments were performed. Results show that the on-line ferrograph is capable of collecting wear particles large than 10 μm from lubricating oil, its stability, linearity, and repeatability are satisfactory. This apparatus can on-line monitor wear state of machinery friction.
