Abstract

A new multi-level matrix converter is presented to alleviate harmonic components of the output voltage that can be used as medium or high power frequency converter. Operation and current commutation strategies are discussed. The validity of the proposed converter is confirmed by the experimental results. To assess the proposed converter, it is compared with the conventional matrix converter under the identical conditions.
