Abstract

To deal with shortcomings existing in slicing method both home and abroad, a novel reconfigurable measurement system for reverse engineering was presented. The system process and framework were described. A new combined device to capture the cross-sectional images was proposed which consisted of the isolated light source, dig ital camera and adjustable fixture device. A kind of a special encasing material with good mechanical property and proper toughness was developed to encase and reinforce the part. Finally, a typical application case showed the system's characteristics of low costing, short cycle and reconfiguration. It provided widespread industrial prospects for enterprises.
