Reconfigurable acoustic logic switches for broadband boolean operations based on coding elements

Abstract

A class of reconfigurable logic switch is designed for Boolean operations of acoustic waves. The switch is composed of one simple pitchfork-shaped structure and two coding elements (CEs). Boolean logic operations are realized with the labyrinthine-based CE, which is capable of maintaining the amplitude while altering the phase of the input signal. Furthermore, the generalized coding element is presented to shift the arbitrary phase difference of input signals into 0 or π in broadband frequency. Therefore the interference of signals can be enhanced or cancelled.
