Abstract

A novel synthetic method is presented for the preparation of alternating multicomponent semifluorinated polyethylene with controlled chain ends. This method is used for the rational design of the first semifluorinated polyethylenes which exhibits a nonlamellar thermotropic hexagonal columnar LC phase, and the obtained results are presented.
