Abstract

In this paper, porous, gradient carbon-ceramic composites were prepared, which yielded an Al2O3 crystallize infiltrated with Al(NO4)3 sol into three dimensional(3-D) braided carbon fibre. The influences of dipping time, sintering process on properties of composites were examined. A compressive strength of 50-70 MPa was obtained for 1.6g/cm3 density composites. From the SEM micrograph of the composite, a good adhesion between the fibre and the ceramic grains was proven. These composites can be applied as lightweight, heat resistance materials at high temperature.
