Abstract

By using the thermo-photovoltaic (TPV) technology, thermal radiation can be converted into electricity through photovoltaic cells. TPV technology is being considered as a viable power conversion technology in the fields of commercial, space and military applications due to wide use range of heat resources and high conversion efficiency of heat-electricity. The principle and the system of TPV are presented, and the recent development status of TPV technology is overviewed.
