Abstract

Researchers of bioactive ceramic/polymer composites are mainly focused on composites of thermoplastic polymer matrix. As such, thermosetting epoxy resin is used for the simple forming processing, and the reinforcement is hydroxyapatite (HA) powder. It is found that the resulting composite has higher flexural strength than that of human cortical bone, and its flexural modulus is quite close to that of cortical bone.
