Abstract
Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is a promising green technology for efficient and environmentally friendly hydrogen production. However, the widespread application of precious metal catalysts, which are currently considered the best catalytic materials available, is hindered by their high cost and limited availability. In recent years, there has been significant interest in porous materials with pore channel structures due to their potential applications in electrocatalysis. This section highlights several typical porous nanomaterial-based electrocatalysts for HER. First, we introduce the recent progress and challenges faced by HER catalysts. Then, we classify porous materials based on pore channel size and present the recent advancements of porous nanomaterials in HER from 1D, 2D, and 3D perspectives, respectively. Finally, we discuss future development bottlenecks and application prospects of porous electrocatalysts for HER.
