Abstract

Objective: To investigate the polymorphism of 15 short tandem repeat (STR) loci of Han population in Hanzhong area, Shaanxi Province to provide basic data for population study, forensic cases and parentage testing. Methods: Blood samples were obtained from 103 unrelated Han population from Hanzhong. DNA templates were screened using AmpF/STR Identifiler kit and ABI3100Avant DNA analyzer with Genescan and Genotype software. Results: The allele frequencies of 15 STR loci ranged from 0.004 9 to 0.504 9, and genotype frequencies ranged from 0.009 7 to 0.320 4. The combined match probability was 5.5 × 10 -17 and combined EPP was 0.999 999 999. Conclusion: The 15 STR loci used in this study are highly polymorphic in Han population from Hanzhong area and can be applied to population study and forensic practice in this region.
