Abstract

Wind power grid integration via fractional frequency transmission system is an effective approach to large-scale longdistance transmission of wind power, which could solve the problem of limited transmission distance of industrial frequency AC cable and save the investment cost of offshore platforms when applied to offshore wind power. Generator-side converter could also achieve the maximum wind power capture for each generator. This paper describes the principles of the FFWPS (Fractional Frequency Wind Power System) with generator-side converter, and analyzes the frequency characteristics of the system with simulation models. Simulations of variable wind speed state and LVRT is conducted, which verifies the feasibility and efficiency of the system.
