Abstract
Compared with grid-connected microgeneration systems, the stability issue of islanded microgeneration systems (IMGSs) is more prominent due to the lack of support from the bulk power grid. Thus the plug and play (PnP) functionality is essential for IMGSs to keep stable operation and dynamic performance of high quality after the plug-in/plug-out operations. This chapter proposes an input-to-state stability (ISS)-based decomposed stability analysis method and a nonlinear control method for IMGSs. Prior to the plug-in/plug-out operation, the ISS-based stability analysis is required to provide the criterions for judging the stability of IMGSs. Posterior to the plug-in/plug-out operation, the nonlinear control strategy is required to achieve the steady-state objectives and enhances the dynamic performance of IMGSs. The effectiveness of the proposed PnP-based stability analysis method and control approach is verified through case studies.
