Abstract

An empirical relation to describe the temperature dependence of ε at T>Tm in relaxor ferroelectrics, with a temperature- and frequency-independent parameter, which unambiguously measures the diffuseness of the diffuse phase transition (DPT), is discussed. The solid solution 0.75 Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.25 PbTiO3 (PMNT) has been studied. The results on PMNT are compared with other relaxor materials to test the validity of the relation proposed.
