Abstract

Auto-reclosure technique applied to transmission lines is an effective method to improve stability of power system. In this paper, a novel three-phase adaptive reclosure method by estimating shunt reactors parameter was developed to distinguish permanent fault from transient fault for transmission line with shunt reactors. The method employs the shunt reactor currents during dead time to build parameter estimation functions. The difference between the estimated value and the actual one is evaluated for distinguishing permanent fault from transient fault. EMTP simulations show the correctness and validity of the proposed method.
