Abstract

A pre-synchronization method for microgrids based on virtual synchronous generators has been presented to reduce inrush current and achieve seamless transition from islanded mode to grid-connected mode. And pre-synchronization units that consist of a frequency regulator, a voltage magnitude regulator and a phase regulator is added to each inverters in microgrid. This paper presents designing of the parameters of pre-synchronization for multiple virtual synchronous generator based microgrid, including integral time constant for PI controller of active power control loop, integral time constant for phase, droop coefficient and virtual inertia. In addition, the effect of pre-synchronization parameters on the reliability of the system is discussed by simulation, and some suggestions on parameters design are also provided and verified.
