Abstract
Collins and colleagues developed a novel experimental technique to mitigate excess iron accumulation in hepcidin knockout (KO) mice, which model human hereditary hemochromatosis. The approach involved oral intragastric gavage of lipid nanoparticles derived from edible ginger to deliver small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) targeting the main intestinal iron transporter Dmt1.
