Abstract

Due to the need of conducting experiment on immovable devices, such as substation and high voltage switch, a portable TEM horn antenna with good directivity is designed. To improve its performance in time and frequency domain, the back loading method based on low frequency compensated and arc combined with triangle connectors based on current distribution are used. The simulation is conducted in CST Microwave Studio and the results shows the electromagnetic environment near the aperture of the antenna measures up to the requirements of HEMP simulator in IEC 61000-4-25. So the optimized antenna can be used to simulate High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse E1 portion.
