Abstract
A new algorithm for scheduling of hydro power systems with cascaded reservoirs within the Lagrange relaxation framework is presented in this paper. The algorithm can systematically consider discontinuous operating regions. discrete operating constraints such as minimum up/down times and hydraulic coupling of reservoirs. Numerical testing based on the data of a practical power system shows that the algorithm is efficient and practical.
